Rexes by Rodrigo-Vega Rexes by Rodrigo-Vega
If you know about me, you'll know I'm very reluctant to ever mention, let alone show anything about my personal projects concepts.. (The ones you see in my gallery are always made for someone elses)
^^ So please don't ask for explanations.

But I decided to allow the public to see this piece of concept. Enjoy!

I really like the variety of body forms you've achieved here. There's so much to look at! Wonderful piece.

The blue ones look like bulletproof tank-killing monsters and the one on the top left could easily be the main antagonist of a top-notch horror/suspense film.

It's most likely based on old fashioned portrayals.

IT looks like someone got a hold of sum T-rex DNA and was able to clone before we had the horizontal posture for T-rex and and had a few monsters com out of the test tube.:)

This reminds me of when I was a kid and a dinosaur nut, looking at the pictures in all kinds of dinosaur encyclopedias. Very nostalgic. Awesome details too.

The "real" ones are the yellow ones, the other ones have each some sort of fictional lense.

Magnificent work to say the least. now are these growth stages of one animal, or different species? i am also curious about the zombified-looking ones; are those actual zombie-rexes or are they the embryo stage from inside the egg? very cool. my favorite is the massive blue one. it looks like an elderly, experienced veteran of the combat zone.

There are 4 styles, and the growth stages for each.
Yellow ones are realistic.
Green ones are retro.
Blue ones are exagerated.
Red ones are mutants.

oh, very cool. the blue ones and the yellow ones look the most realistic. the big blue reminds me of Sue from Chicago's Field Museum. she was heavily battle-scarred from decades of vicious fights. i can see where the reference came from also for the green ones. they look like more modern versions of the old models ray harryhausen created. i find it very fascinating to look at. another question as well; are these all of Tyrannosaurus? or are others of the group in this because i recognized what i think to be Albertosaurus in there.

when you do these scale drawings, do you tend to draw all the different creatures on one piece or draw them separately and edit them together?

Piece of advice: do not try to put deadlines on your artistic develoment, you donīt need them. Leave deadlines for dead-end jobs and egocentric bosses in case you might have them, lets hope you donīt.
