Survivor Hunters by Rodrigo-Vega Survivor Hunters by Rodrigo-Vega
Humans> Survivors> Hunters.
I promise this is the last party with "hunters" in the name.. ugh.. humans at least.
This one is kind o a personal favourite too. Some people told me these are kind of anachronical, because there is NO WAY there are dogs and shotguns in the future. Jeez.
But talking seriously, survivor hunters are those who were left stranded in jungle planets (or any planet with large quantities of compatible native biomass) they have limited if any access to ammo or energy supplies so a hunting dog (a re-breed cordoba in this case), retrievable crossbow bolts and improvised made cammo are a better choise than a phaser gun or an assault rifle and optic cammo. Go figure.

So interesting - I love the poacher engine! It looks like something I'd like to take for a joyride...

I don't know if you've noticed, though, that the title in the image says "Surviror" instead of "Survivor"

I spy Verunas heads in all this.

Verunas are kinda their arch-nemesis since the Verunas are like super-predators, so they compete all the time over food.

I kinda figure but also assumed they'd also be on nonverunas-inhabited plantes.

I'm sorry for being so persistent in my criticism, but in this case I can't see the "upgrade" from the hunstman to the huntress. At least not in the same magnitude as in previous deviations. Is it because of the weapon?

It is not an upgrade progression, it is more like, character themes with patterns like male, female, mech.

That's not true. Check more deviations about this game and you will see the pattern has nothing to do with male->female->mecha

yes, there isn't a set theme. Being part of the development team I know Iririv is making these to create a vision for the kind of characters that could inhabit this universe.

I suppose I got the wrong feel of each "unit" being in a different tier of "power", then. I would like Iririv to clarify the issue, if he doesn't mind.

I don't think there is a right feel to any of it, it is all concept =]

I approached your comment as it looked inspired by the usual flow of character concepts where left most is low-tech, low level, and along the right they get more advanced or higher level. Which other game art uses to show off character progression.
I'll apologize if anything seems pushy on my part, I get a lot of questions from people interested in the game and one assumption is that these character designs represent character progression; since the game is an MMO-type game, there is a believe that the game has a traditional leveling system, which we don't use. I try to keep information accurate. =P
The player will be the leader of his/her people these character concepts represent the kind of characters and themes the player will encounter on their galactic endeavors and we want a rich base of lore and design.

I still get lost in some of the things Irirv brings out. =P

Sorry, well, yes, I did notice what you mean.
The power difference is substantial, only in this case its just a mater of skill rather than equipment.
As a character, the huntress is much more agile, an expert tracker, combatant, marksman and assassin.
The huntsman is just a redshirt that makes noise around the bushes to scare small game out of their hiding spots.
But yes, its more of a thing you should see in action.

Now, it makes a lot of sense.
Not that I'm a male chauvinist or anything of that kind, but for some people it could almost look like the huntress is better just by turning into a woman! (just joking :D).

I think some kind of mini-description of each character (like one or two sentences) would help clearing this issues out, but I suppose it's not what you have in mind for that project.

Thanks, its a compliment for me. I loved all his work when I first saw it and "took notes". On one or two occassions I think he came around and commented possitively on my work, so I guess we both like what each other does, at least to some degree. I can only speak for myself.
