If James Rolfe lends me one of his frases..
You know what's buuUULLSHIT?

Euclidean geometry.
I mean.. I guess it's kinda decent to calculate some things. But I really think it's no good for art, to train perseption an such. It's infuriating how often the work of my class is to meassure lines unitil death arrives.
This drawings were made for a sculpure class, the girl next to me spent like 2 hours just carefully measuring that wooden box, you know extending her arm with the pencil and all that.
You should have seen her drawing, there were numbers and invisible cubes, all kinds of diagonals to make sure everything was in the right place an proportion. It looked like a design sheet of a spaceship when the objective was to draw some final.. 7, maybe 8 lines tops that composed that square, or cube, or 'rectangular prism'. WTF.
Seriously, nature does not care squat bout shapes made out by some old dead greek guy. You don't see trees growing like cubes or organs like pyramids then don't use them as a reference.
Art teachers extend this philosophy to draw everything, they emphatically teach their students to visualise everything with just a fistful of euclidean shapes, as if the human brain couldn't concieve any other 3D shape that is not a cube, a sphere and a cylinder. They'll tell you to draw a head as a sphere and then shape it into an egg-like shape. If you know already that it looks more like an egg, then don't waste your time and crowd your drawing with lines drawing a sphere and draw the damn egg shape right away! or a head's shape, that'd be better. People think too much about drawing, when copying something you are seeing, you don't have to think or understand or anything, just draw what you see and forget about everything, your eyes won't lie to you but yout brain will always make mistakes. And when you do not have that you are drawing in front of you, draw with the eyes of your mind.
If anything; drag some lines here and there, maybe some verticals an horizontals, some diagonals so to check some importants lines reach the lenght they have to reach, but please remember, you are NOT made out of cubes and spheres. You are made of fleshy, irregular organs with a shape of their own. Draw them as such.

I think the geometry will certainly help those who doesn't have a naturally developed perceptual sense. You will be amazed how many people have no perceptual sense at all when it comes to drawing.
